The past month or two have been an absolute blast with this project. Not just because I got to team up with my bestie, but because Coded Creative is a new business the two of us launched together! This project, as well as all themes, were built on the Genesis Framework. (Update: I have since left Coded Creative, but Kory is still doing amazing things!)
As you can see with a quick glance around my website, bright colors are my thing. I love the way Kory mixed her love for clean designs with my love of color. It made it into such a fun development project. The fact that she also knows exactly what to hand off to me for development also makes working with her easy. I always get super organized folders containing the mockups, copy, fonts and instructions for what goes where, colors, and image files.
I generally like to work with designers to make sure that their designs are strategic and will be effective for their client’s business goals. However, Kory has worked with me in the past and has taken my course on website strategy so she knows the drill!
Something fun that I’d never done before was creating a menu with multiple lines and font styles! It was a fun adventure and I’m glad to have the knowledge in my back pocket for future custom development projects. On the homepage, a few other fun features included the full-width featured image, widgetized sections, and a 4-column footer.
This project also featured a WooCommerce shop with custom Shop and Product pages! The Product pages generally have quite a different layout and only support one button, so I got to play around with WooCommerce coding customizations to get everything just right.
I had so much fun teaming up with Kory and bringing her mockup to life right along with our business! This definitely goes into the books as one of my favorite WordPress development projects.
