About the project
How freaking gorgeous is this website? The Paige Nelson Photography website is one I collaborated on with Phyllis of Phyllis Sa Designs. This was the 3rd time we've teamed up on a project and I always love what Phyllis comes up with. The fact that this client is a photographer certainly didn't hurt the final result either.
This was quite the project, clocking in at 55 hours of pure development work. Phew! The page long layouts are quite unique and the slider took a good 10 hours on it's own, but seeing the final result is more than worth it!
This website was built on WordPress with a custom child theme for the Genesis framework. I also made use of Beaver Builder to ensure all pages would be quick and easy to update with new portfolio projects to show off.
A couple of my favorite features include the different header layouts as well as a few hover effects. On pages with images at the top, we have a header featuring the logo on the left and menu on the right, all in a light color. On pages without a hero image, such as blog posts, the logo is centered between menu items.
The hover effects that turned out really nicely include the featured blog posts on the home page and posts on the Blog page.
I'm also a big fan of the arrows that display when hovering over a menu item in the footer. It's small, but something you don't see on many sites out there!
