Krista Rae - WordPress developer for designers

Hey, I'm Krista!

It's overwhelming and frustrating to take charge of every aspect of a design business. Sometimes it's not even feeling overwhelmed, but knowing that you could do more of what you love (and make more $$) if you got rid of a few pieces.

As a designer, creating memorable brands and websites is where your time is best spent. That's how you serve your clients. That's how you make an impact. And that's how you bring in the dollar bills.

But the code that comes with designing those intentional websites isn't your cup of tea. Sure, you can push through and make it happen. But it takes way too long, your creativity is limited by your coding abilities, and it totally ruins the excitement as you near the end of a project. That's what I'm here for!

I take care of the code so you don't have to.

I work with designers running established businesses who set out to make a real impact through each and every one of their carefully curated designs. Designers who...

  • Value the power of their designs too much to spend countless hours learning new coding skills or fighting with final website tweaks that they just don’t have time to deal with.
  • Want to feel lit up and excited throughout a client project, rather than getting to development and feeling discouraged because it’s like starting from scratch.
  • Are ready to get designs out into the world more quickly, without having the pressure of the full project on them.
  • Aren’t willing to feel limited based on their own coding abilities or the skills and reliability of an inexperienced developer.
  • Want the best web experience for their clients - from the design itself to how easy it is for them to manage down the road.

My core values

When you trust another business owner with the outcome of your client sites, it’s helpful to know a thing or two about them. Here are the values at the core of Krista Rae LLC:

Dependability

I dedicate myself to giving each and every client an amazing experience. From the time you inquire to the time the website we've collaborated on launches and beyond, you are my priority. I'll never go MIA, I'll never commit to something and then not do it. I am your go-to developer and a team member you can fully rely on.

Excellence

I set out each day to be the best developer I can be through crazy attention to detail and the outcome of the final product I create. I consistently further my education and hone my development skills. This allows me to build websites that will serve clients for years to come.

Collaboration

I am here to serve as a member of your team. Regardless of whether we work together on a custom website, small tweaks, or an ongoing retainer, the entire process is collaborative. Only together can we create the website your client has been dreaming of.

Freedom

Just as my business creates freedom for me, I use my skills to create freedom for designers. Each project I take on and each minute I spend expanding upon my skill set means less time you have to spend in code and more time you get to spend on design.

Simplicity

As I've put an effort into making my own business simple and stress-free, I strive to do the same for you. In addition to taking development off your to-do list, I keep everything in our process as simple as possible and ensure you always know what's coming next.

Giving Back

I've been given so much through my business that giving back is a big part of what I do. I sponsor 3 orphans as well as donate a portion of profits to Lifesong for Orphans. I also use my business to give back to others through providing opportunities.

More about me

In college, I discovered my love for development. In 5 years I went from not knowing what code was to having a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Software Engineering.

After a few years of being a software and web developer for a large corporation, I dove into the world of WordPress development and running an online business. And boy did I underestimate how much work it would take!

After 2 years I became passionate about running a more simplified business. I realized I didn't have to do everything myself and quickly saw a big return (both in terms of money and my happiness) from relying on other people's' talents to take care of tasks I wasn't as good at.

Now I've found myself feeling even more passionate about taking a big weight off of the shoulders of brand and web designers. Through custom theme development based off of gorgeous mockups to monthly retainer services to help you focus on the pieces of your projects that matter, I am your ongoing collaborator for all things code, tech, and WordPress!

You put a lot of time and effort into making your You put a lot of time and effort into making your clients happy, but what about you? 🙋‍♀️

I want you to stop and realize that YOU matter. If it weren't for you, your clients wouldn't have you to make them happy. So let's talk about a few ways to make your design business serve you. (Then you can go back to focusing on your clients.)

I’ll include more information in the graphics above for you to swipe through, but in short:
✅ Double-down on what's bringing in clients and forget the rest - don’t try to do it all.
✅ Set up sales processes to bring in clients on autopilot once they find you on social media.
✅ Take time to make intentional plans (because winging it isn’t worth it).
✅ Charge what you’re worth to attract better clients and continue to love what you do.

You might be thinking that you don’t have time to make changes like this, I get it. But YOU are worth taking this time.

Sometimes, you need to slow down before you can speed up.

If you want to take it even further alongside over 4000 other designers, join us next week at the Simply Profitable Designer Summit. 👋

40 experts will share actionable tips that you can implement in your design business right away to get more out of what you're doing and create a business that serves you. The best part? It’s FREE! 🙌

We have presentations for each of the steps we talked about today and so many more.

Click the link in my bio to see the full presentation lineup and to get your free ticket. We start next week! 🎉
Are you making things harder than they need to be? Are you making things harder than they need to be? 😅

Here are a few ways you’re overcomplicating your design business and how to fix it starting today.

1️⃣ Low-Paying Clients - When you need to make money, the obvious solution is to take on more clients. Clients are necessary for a design business, but a lot of time low-paying clients aren’t worth it.

These are the clients who are needy, expect more than they pay for, and leave you in a negative mindset.
I’m not saying you need to triple your prices, but take small steps to get your rates where you want them to be.

2️⃣ Too Many (or lack of) Service Packages - When you have a set number of packages, everything can be systemized and automated. Without it, you have to make up everything on the fly.

To help, narrow down your services to 2-3 set packages that give your clients a specific outcome. It makes it easier for everyone!

3️⃣ Too Many Social Media Platforms - Right now you might feel like you should be on aaaall the social media platforms.

What if, instead of being everywhere, you double down on the places that are actually bringing in clients?

Determine which platforms give you the biggest return, double down on those, and ditch the rest.

--

While these ideas are simple, it can be hard to sit down and do the work to make it happen. 📝

That's why I'm so excited to invite you to the Simply Profitable Designer Summit where we are carving out specific time for you to spend on making your design business serve YOU.

We've got presentations in categories like:
✨ How to attract dreamy design clients
✨ Sales processes that book clients
✨ How to elevate your client process
✨ Signature design techniques and strategies
✨ Boosting profits without sacrificing balance
✨ How to be better in your business

We want you to attend presentations related to things you're already improving to make those things more efficient and profitable (aka actually worth your time).

Check out the full presentation lineup and get your free ticket at the link in my bio! 🙌
🤔 Wondering where to find your next design clie 🤔 Wondering where to find your next design client?

Before I reveal how you can finally create a busin Before I reveal how you can finally create a business that serves you first and your clients second, can we acknowledge that you’re in an incredible place to make it happen and have already been making strides?

✅ You’ve already been spending time thinking about how to sell packages that bring in more $$, while requiring less of your time.

✅ You’ve got tasks on your to-do list that are for your business...they just keep getting pushed back to next week.

✅ You’re experimenting with the marketing methods you’ve been promised are THE answer to bringing in dreamy clients...they just aren’t working quite yet.

While you’ve been knee-deep trying to figure it out, I’ve spent the last few years creating a streamlined and profitable business that serves me. I cut out services that weren’t serving me or my clients, I saved over $10,000 in one year by cutting things that weren’t working, and I went from working seven 12-hour days per week to working four 6-hour days. 💁🏻‍♀️

So what do you need to do to get there? 🤔

Slow down before you speed up. Instead of constantly adding more to your plate in hopes that it will be THE answer, it’s time to:
✋ Stop.
✨ Streamline what you’re already doing to make your business more profitable where it currently stands.
✨ And then add on from there.

That’s what we’ll focus on at the Simply Profitable Designer Summit.

This free event is all about streamlining and improving what you’re already doing so you can be more efficient, profitable, and stress-free.

From there, there are no limits to how much you can grow.🌱

Ready to get started in running a design business that serves YOU first and your clients second? 🙋🏻‍♀️

The “business experts” say that the success of The “business experts” say that the success of your design business relies on having a constant stream of clients and making them happy as can be. 🤔

It makes sense on the surface, right?

If you can have a constant stream of clients and they leave happy, potentially sending you more clients, it’s gotta be a good thing.

But running your design business that way for too long will actually put you in a deep, dark hole that you struggle to dig yourself out of.

In that hole, you find yourself:
✨ Hustling harder and working longer hours than you ever have before.
✨ Selling your soul to keep your clients happy.
✨ Feeling clueless about what’s working and what’s a waste of time.
✨ Having absolutely zero time for YOU.
✨ Feeling totally out of control and like you’re hanging on by a thread.

Are you feeling that right now?

I’ve been there and it is not a fun thing. 🙋🏻‍♀️

In reality, when you realize that you and your business are #1 and your clients come second, everything starts flowing more smoothly.

Instead of being stuck in a hole, you’ll find yourself:
✨ Working far more reasonable hours and having time to be a human again.
✨ Working with clients you enjoy and not feeling resentment toward them.
✨ A solid idea of what’s actually working (from how you’re finding clients to your design processes) so you know what to double-down on and what to improve.
✨ A little free time to continue making things even better.

Yes, please.

Anyone can start a business that eventually burns them the heck out, but it takes someone and something special to create a business that brings true happiness along with the dollar bills. 🙌

It took me several years to figure it out and tomorrow I’ve got something to help you get there too. (And it’s free!)

Any guesses?

Stay tuned!
